Today (Feb. 26.), Agoria dropped the official soundtrack for the upcoming French film Lucky, which he also scored. The 10-track soundtrack, composed completely of music by the legendary French DJ/producer, marks his first new music of the year, following April 2019's Drift, his first album in eight years. Lucky, a dark comedy directed by Olivier Van Hoofstadt, is set for release this Friday, Feb. 28, in its home country.
"Working with Olivier Van Hoofstadt is questioning if your music shall resonate with the sense of humor of actors as it's a comedy about following the action and so the present, or forward-thinking what music could be futuristic in a comedy," Agoria said of the Lucky soundtrack over email. "In that sense, I guess the score I did is a [mix] of past, present and future."

The Lucky soundtrack marks the second time the "Embrace" producer has scored one of Van Hoofstadt's films; he also worked with the Belgian director on his 2008 crime drama, Go Fast. There are several guest vocalists on the soundtrack, including multiple tracks with Sacha Rudy and one with Jacques, who contributed both to Drift and a subsequent two-track joint EP, Visit. Rapper STS also appears, with their Drift track, "Call Of The Wild," getting new life in the film and on the soundtrack.

The film is an off-beat comedy, perfectly suited by Agoria's eclectic, fun and boundless musical tastes. According to a press release, it is "a comedy about a pair of friends who need to get out of financial difficulty. To do so they have a genius idea: steal a dog from the drug squad who can sniff them out some narcotics to sell. Things don't quite go as planned, however, and when they link up with a bent cop, hilarity ensues."
"When Olivier contacted me last year to compose the music for the film, I was releasing my new album, I was on tour and engaged in other projects, [so] I thought I would have no time for it. Then I saw the film. I love its Belgian humor, so I jumped onboard," Agoria said in the release. "More than a soundtrack, it is an album inspired by the music of the film. Like Drift, I am surrounded by many guests and musicians: Jacques, STS, Blasé and of course my young friend Sacha Rudy with whom I composed most of the original music.

With Olivier, nothing ever goes as planned. A few years ago, when we had just finished a clip in Tokyo, we stopped for a drink. Two minutes later, we were kidnapped and drugged by the owners of the bar. And this is not a joke. Anyway, all's well that ends well and I'm happy to finally present this new soundtrack."
"It's a pleasure to work together and I am very proud and very happy with what Sebastien has created as a universe for Lucky," Van Hoofstadt added.
