Biography
"There's nothing like living a long time to create a depth and soulfulness in your music."
- Born Bonnie Lynn Raitt Nov. 8, 1949, in Burbank, California.
- Bonnie Raitt's album Nick Of Time brought her commercial success, climbing to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and eventually achieving five-time platinum certification by the RIAA.
- Raitt won the first GRAMMY Awards of her career for 1989. She took home honors for Album Of The Year for Nick Of Time, and Best Rock Performance, Female and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for the album's title track. She also won Best Traditional Blues Recording for "I'm In The Mood" with John Lee Hooker.
- Raitt is the woman who has performed the most at the GRAMMYs. From her first solo performance of "Thing Called Love" at the 32nd GRAMMY Awards in 1990 through her latest performance in honor of B.B. King with Chris Stapleton and Gary Clark Jr. at the 58th GRAMMY Awards, Raitt has graced the stage nine times.
- Raitt headlined the GRAMMY Foundation's Legacy Concert in 2014. The official GRAMMY Week concert promoted the GRAMMY Foundation's mission of recognizing and preserving our musical past so that future generations can continue to benefit from an appreciation and understanding of those contributions.
- Raitt has worked with a host of charities and nonprofits across her career, but the majority of her fundraising has been conducted through the ARIA Foundation in partnership with The Guacamole Fund, an organization focused on supporting grassroots activities with education, outreach, networking, and funding in the areas of the environment and wildlife, social change, peace with justice, energy, and a non-nuclear future.
