- Born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez Feb. 3, 1977, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
- Daddy Yankee earned international recognition as a featured artist on Luis Fonsi's smash hit "Despacito," also featuring Justin Bieber. The tune spent 16 weeks atop Billboard's Hot 100, matching Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" for the longest run at No. 1 in the chart's history.
- His sixth studio album, Prestige, hit No. 1 on Billboard's Latin Albums chart. It also earned a Latin GRAMMY nomination for Best Urban Music Album.
- Daddy Yankee earned his first GRAMMY nomination at the 50th GRAMMY Awards for Best Latin Urban Album for El Cartel: The Big Boss.
- Did you know? Daddy Yankee wanted to be a professional baseball player, and he even tried out for the Seattle Mariners. However, after being shot in the hip, he focused on music during his recovery and never looked back.
- Following the devastating hurricane in his home territory of Puerto Rico in 2017, Daddy Yankee donated $1 million in relief funding to help the island recover.
