  • Born Dolly Rebecca Parton Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. 
  • Dolly Parton's 1977 studio album, Here You Come Again, was her first to hit the Top 20 on the Billboard 200. The album featured hits such as the title track, which reached No. 3 on Billboard's Hot 100, and "Two Doors Down" (No. 19).
  • At the 21st GRAMMY Awards, Parton won her first career GRAMMY for Best Country Vocal Performance, Female for "Here You Come Again." Parton made her GRAMMY stage debut at the 43rd GRAMMY Awards in 2001, performing "Travelin' Prayer."
  • Parton's "9 To 5," the title song to the 1980 blockbuster film of the same name, won two GRAMMYs. The song was also nominated for an original song Oscar.
  • Launching in 1995, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has become the premier early childhood book gifting program in the world by mailing more than 80 million books in Australia, Canada, the U.K., and the United States.
