Biography

"I just want to be remembered as somebody who was himself, not a product."

  • Born Aubrey Drake Graham on Oct. 24, 1986, in Toronto, Ontario
  • Drake earned the first Top 10 hits of his career in 2009 with "Best I Ever Had" (No. 2) and "Forever" (No. 8) featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem. His debut studio album, 2010's Thank Me Later, topped the Billboard 200 and spawned the Top 5 single "Find Your Love."
  • Drake earned the first GRAMMY of his career for Best Rap Album for his 2011 studio album, Take Care. He made his GRAMMY performance debut at the 52nd GRAMMY Awards in 2010, performing a medley of "Drop The World" and "Forever" with fellow rappers Eminem and Lil Wayne.
  • Before he rose to fame as a rapper, Drake was an actor who appeared on "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and in commercials for retailers such as Sears.
  • Drake's GRAMMY-winning "Hotline Bling" was a featured track on the 2017 GRAMMY Nominees album. A portion of proceeds from the annual compilation benefit the year-round work of the GRAMMY Museum and MusiCares.
  • In 2015 Drake donated $75,000 to assist with the creation of a recording studio at Strawberry Mansion High School in Philadelphia.
