Biography
"Sometimes you get the best light from a burning bridge." — Don Henley
- Members: Glenn Frey (died Jan. 18, 2016), Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit
- Formed in 1971 in Los Angeles, California
- From their 1972 self-titled debut album, "Take It Easy" became the Eagles' first Top 20 hit, reaching No. 12 on Billboard's Hot 100. They had their first Billboard 200 No. 1 album with 1975's One Of These Nights, but the band reached a new level with the 1976 release of their chart-topping smash, Hotel California.
- The Eagles won their first career GRAMMY for 1975 for Best Pop Vocal Performance By A Duo, Group Or Chorus for "Lyin' Eyes."
- The Eagles never performed on the GRAMMY stage as a band, but Henley performed "End Of The Innocence" solo at the 32nd GRAMMY Awards in 1990. At the 58th GRAMMY Awards in 2016, Henley, Leadon, Walsh, and Schmit were joined by Jackson Browne to perform "Take It Easy" as a tribute to the late Glenn Frey.
- Founding Eagles members Henley, Frey, Leadon, and Meisner first worked together as members of Linda Ronstadt's backup band.
- The Eagles have three recordings in the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame, including the albums Desperado and Hotel California.
- The Eagles supported a number of charities and advocacy organizations during their active years, including City of Hope, Music for Relief, Precious Paws, and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.
