  • Born Florence Leontine Mary Welch on Aug. 28, 1986, in London, England
     
  • Led by Florence Welch, Florence & The Machine had a tremendous global impact with "Dog Days Are Over," the second single from their 2009 debut album, Lungs. The song was heard on the TV shows "Gossip Girl" and "Glee" and in the hit film Eat, Pray, Love.
     
  • Welch sang the soul classic "Think" as a part of an Aretha Franklin tribute that opened the 53rd GRAMMY Awards show in 2011, performing alongside fellow singers Christina AguileraMartina McBrideJennifer Hudson, and Yolanda Adams  
     
  • Did you know? The career of Florence & The Machine began as a teenage collaboration between friends Welch and Isabella Summers. Originally, the duo billed themselves as Florence Robot and Isabella Machine, a name that was eventually shortened to Florence & The Machine.
     
  • Welch sang a folk-acoustic version of "Dancing On The Ceiling" at the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute to Lionel Richie.
     
  • Florence & The Machine have supported a number of charities, including the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Chime for Change, the Save the Music Foundation, and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
