  • Born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor on Nov. 7, 1996, in Auckland, New Zealand
     
  • Lorde achieved an undeniable, international impact with her first single, "Royals" from her 2013 debut studio album, Pure Heroine, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200The success of the song made her one of the youngest artist ever to have an international No. 1 hit.
     
  • Lorde earned her first career GRAMMY nominations and wins at the 56th GRAMMY Awards for 2013. She earned Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Royals." Lorde made her GRAMMY stage debut performing the GRAMMY-winning hit during that year's telecast.
     
  • Did you know? The singer/songwriter chose her stage name because she was fascinated with "royals and aristocracy."
     
  • Lorde recorded the charity single "Team Ball Player Thing" in 2015 with Flight Of The Conchords and other New Zealand celebrities to benefit the health research organization Cure Kids.
