Biography
"My writing is about truth, you know? People all over the world can relate to what's happening in their lives if it's done in a truthful way."
- Born William Yarbrough on July 16, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee
- Though it barely cracked the Billboard Hot 100, William Bell's "You Don't Miss Your Water," released as a single in 1961, has become his signature song. He released his debut full-length album, The Soul Of A Bell, in 1967, which produced two hits on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, "Never Like This Before" and "Everybody Loves A Winner."
- Bell earned his first career GRAMMY for 2016 for Best Americana Album for This Is Where I Live. He made his GRAMMY stage debut at the 59th GRAMMY Awards when he performed "Born Under A Bad Sign" with Gary Clark Jr.
- Though Bell released his first single in 1961, he wasn't able to release his first debut album until 1967 due to a stint in the military.
