On Oct. 27, 1967, Scott Weiland was born in San Jose, Calif. At the 36th GRAMMY Awards in 1994, his powerful voice took the Stone Temple Pilots from first nomination to GRAMMY win in the Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal category for their hit "Plush."

For those who remember him with love, his death less than two years ago still hurts. So last Friday, on what would have been Weiland's 50th birthday, bandmates and his teenage children took to social media to send him birthday best wishes.

The tweets were accompanied by a Spotify playlist created by his teenage children Lucy and Noah, with track-by-track commentary on Facebook.

Some highlights include the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" — "his favorite song of all time" — and "Since U Been Gone," which Kelly Clarkson won one of her first GRAMMYs performing.

"He even took us to her concert and danced with me on his shoulders while I rocked out with my little fists in the air," remembered Lucy.

Sharing playlists on social media rarely reaches such a high level. Scott Weiland's kids have pioneered the playlist by creating such an inspiring collection of memories. Like their dad, this one's bound to be influential.
