Record Store Day 2020 is just around the corner on Saturday, April 18, and now the annual celebration of independent record stores has a new champion in its corner: Brandi Carlile has announced she will be this year's Record Store Day Ambassador.

“What independent record stores do is that they mine, archive, love, meticulously care for, and make available to you other people’s dreams.” Carlile said.

A four-time GRAMMY winner, Carlile is a natural fit for the role, as she and her twin collaborators, Phil Hanseroth and Tim Hanseroth, have always had their musical sights on record stores.

“The Twins and I have never made an album that we didn’t intend to be in an independent record store," Carlile said of the honor. "Thank you so much for recognizing this love in me and the Twins and giving us this opportunity. We won’t let you down.”

Carlile won her fourth career GRAMMY earlier this year, taking home Best Country Song honors for her collaboration with Tanya Tucker on "Bring My Flowers Now." She joins a prestigious group of past RSD ambassadors, including St. Vincent, Metallica, Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne and Jack White.

“Brandi’s career has woven through record stores from the beginning, and I can barely remember when there hasn’t been a Brandi Carlile record in their racks and on their charts,” said RSD co-founder Carrie Colliton. “Record stores really are tastemakers—in all genres, across the country—and they’ve been shouting about Brandi and the Twins for years.”

The list of exclusive releases for this, the 13th annual RSD, is still forthcoming. More details are available at the Record Store Day website.
