The Tony Awards have named GRAMMY-nominated artist/actor Brandon Victor Dixon and Tony-winning actress/singer Bebe Neuwirth as hosts for the 73rd annual Tony Awards Nominations. The special is set to air live on April 30 on "CBS This Morning." from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.
After bursting onto the Broadway scene by starring in "Hamilton," Dixon is enjoying wildly successful run of late, earning his second career GRAMMY nomination last year for Best Musical Theatre Album for his role in "Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert" and launching his own music and philanthropy project, We Are.
Neuwirth, a 40-year veteran of theatre production, film and TV has won two Tony Awards, including best lead actress in a musical in 1997 and best featured actress in 1986, as well as two Emmys for her role as Lillian Sternin on the "Cheers" spinoff show, "Frasier."
In addition to airing on "CBS This Morning," the annual announcement special will also be available for live streaming on the Tony Awards website and on Facebook. James Cordon will host the 2019 Tony Awards on June 9 at Radio City Music Hall.
Neuwirth has worked in theatre productions as well as films and TV shows for the last 40 years. Dixon was most recently in FOX’s RENT: Live and broke out by starring in Broadway’s Hamilton.
