Roxy Music's glam frontman Bryan Ferry has also been a solo artist since he followed up on the band's self-titled 1972 debut with his own debut solo album, These Foolish Things, in 1973. On Jan. 14 he announced 18 North American dates have been added to his Bryan Ferry World Tour 2019, from July through September, playing "solo & Roxy hits" especially from Roxy's memorable and lush 1982 album, Avalon.

Avalon's elegant ambience was considered an apex of synth pop. From Roxy Music's 1973 sophomore album, For Your Pleasure, through Avalon, the band's eight consecutive albums all hit the Billboard 200, with Avalon reaching No. 53. It was a sleeper that became iconic, certified Platinum for U.S. sales by the RIAA a decade after its release.

On Dec. 13, 2018 the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame announced Roxy Music's 2019 induction, with the ceremony to be held on March 29, honoring Ferry along with bandmates Brian Eno, John Gustafson, Eddie Jobson, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera, Graham Simpson and Paul Thompson.

Ferry's two GRAMMY nominations reflect his diversity, beginning with Best Album Package at the 31st GRAMMY Awards for Bete Noire, followed by his first musical nomination at the 43rd GRAMMY Awards for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for As Time Goes By, comprised of classic standards including "Falling In Love Again" and "Where Or When."

Ferry's most recent solo album, Bitter-Sweet, was released on Nov. 30, 2018, backing Ferry with a jazz orchestra on more than a dozen of his originals including tracks from the soundtrack to the German TV series "Babylon Berlin."

The North American leg of Ferry's world tour begins on July 30 in Toronto, followed by Chicago and 15 more U.S. dates until closing on Sept. 5 in Vancouver. Ferry's website has details including how to snag pre-sale tix beginning on Jan. 15. It also states, "Look forward to more world tour dates to be added in the coming months."
