What does Foo Fighters' lead guitarist do when he's not on tour or in the studio with the Foos? A lot, actually. Chris Shiflett has been wildly prolific over the past two-and-a-half decades in a variety of bands and as a solo artist.

Shiflett's latest full-length solo effort, Hard Lessons, arrived in 2019. In our exclusive interview with Shiflett, he talks about reuniting with super-producer Dave Cobb for his latest album, the process of separating the wheat from the chaff in the recording studio, the Austin music scene and more.

Check out Shiflett's interview above and be sure to subcribe to the GRAMMY.com newsletter for all the latest info on Music's Biggest Night and beyond.
