Chicago funny man Hannibal Buress is stepping into the festival industry with the announcement of his first-ever comedy and music event, Isola Fest. Taking place Dec. 13-15 at Playaz Palace in Isola, Miss., the three-day event will feature appearances from T-Pain, Flying Lotus, Open Mike Eagle and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, among others, plus a headlining performance from Buress himself. More artists and performers will be announced soon.

In addition to music and comedy, the festival promises "crazy surprises," according to the event's website, including a landlord fashion show and a motivational speaker battle, per Buress' Twitter page.
Isola, the host city for the festival, is a small rural town in Mississippi from which Buress' family, on his mother's side, hails. (His cousin owns Playaz Palace, the venue where the festival is taking place.) With a small population of approximately 800 residents, Isola takes its name from the word "isolation" due to its remote location.

"Isola is short for Isolation. I know this sounds like some Fyre Festival part 2 type situation but we have things pretty much in order," Buress joked in a press release announcing the festival. "Our sandwiches are just as equally trash as theirs though. Some things you just can't control."

A known hip-hop fan with eclectic music tastes, Buress is currently working on a rap album with his tour DJ, Tony Trimm. In 2018, Buress released the parody rap song, "Gibberish Rap," and has also collaborated with Isola Fest performers Flying Lotus and Open Mike Eagle in the past. Buress has also hosted musicians and artists like Lizzo, Run The Jewels, Mitski and others on his "Handsome Rambler" podcast.
