Daddy Yankee stepped up in a big way today, pledging $1 million in relief to his home country of Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

The GRAMMY-nominated Puerto Rican native says he will "work to ensure that the largest number of families on the island have a safe roof." His generous donation will be split between several aid organizations.

This donation comes in addition to the 10 truckloads of supplies donated by Yankee's fans at his concert. The Latin music community has seen an outpouring of support in the past week, including an additional $1 million dollar donation from Jennifer Lopez.Billboard also reports that Yankee's "Despacito" collaborator, Luis Fonsi, recently weighed in on the devastation in Puerto Rico, saying, "This will take years to rebuild." Fortunately, artists like Daddy Yankee from all over the music community are coming forward with monetary, moral and musical support.
