Fans of comedy and music alike will be able to come together on New Year's Eve this year for a special event hosted by legendary comedian Dave Chappelle and seven-time GRAMMY winning guitarist John Mayer.
Dubbed "Controlled Danger," the special holiday event will include solo sets by each performer, capped off by a collaborative session of "songs, stories, improvised dancing, and more," as reported by Billboard .
This will be far from the first time the pair has worked together, as Mayer first joined a classic sketch on an episode of "Chappelle's Show" in 2004. More recently, Chappelle joined Mayer onstage for a surprise appearance at the guitarist's Apr. 12, 2017, show in Columbus, Ohio, where the pair performed a touching improvised tribute to fellow "Chappelle's Show" collaborator Charlie Murphy, who had passed away earlier that day following a protracted bout with leukemia.
Since that live performance, Chappelle and Mayer have performed several editions of the "Controlled Danger" show concept at clubs and small venues around the country, but this New Year's Eve event will mark the first time the show will be presented on a large stage in a major venue.
"Controlled Danger" will take place on Dec. 31 at The Forum, in Inglewood, Calif. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Sept. 29.
