It’s possible no human being has more memorably bellowed their own name than DJ Khaled. On tracks by Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Cardi B and scores of others, the one-time GRAMMY winner and three-time GRAMMY nominee has crashed the party and left an indelible impression.
That would be more than enough for any performer to hang their (flat-brimmed) hat on, but Khaled’s presence in the music world runs much deeper than hyping up a crowd.
As the Recording Academy’s senior manager of hip-hop, R&B and reggae, Len Brown, puts it below, he’s not only also a megastar producer and DJ, but a "father, GRAMMY winner and motivational speaker." Then, the man of the hour moseys onstage for a 45-minute chat with Billboard’s hip-hop editor Carl Lamarre.
In the above video published by Audiomack’s “Behind The Beat” series, watch DJ Khaled open up to Lamarre about his unique, idiosyncratic legacy and approach to life and art.
