Honestly, a trip to Electric Daisy Carnival can leave a music fan feeling like all the other festivals are phoning it in. The awe-inspiring production value and eclectic exuberance of the crowd is matched only by the sheer mass of the entire spectacle. Today, we learn Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be lighting up a little earlier next year. EDC has announced the dates for EDC 2018: May 18 to 20.

This date shift to May comes after six straight years of the premiere dance music festival taking place in June.

"EDC Las Vegas is more than just a festival—it’s a community without boundaries, a celebration of life, art and dance music culture," Insomniac Founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella says of the thinking behind the change. "We strive to make every year better than the last, and after a lot of brainstorming and feedback from our community, we have decided to move next year's festival to May 18, 19 and 20. This way we can enjoy cooler weather, the gates can open earlier, and we can hold a very special opening ceremony each day at cosmicMEADOW."

But the dates aren't the only change coming to EDC. For the first time, the festival will open its doors to campers, providing a range of options from air-conditioned campers to tent camping and RV parking. This should go a long way toward curtailing the intense traffic that inevitably surrounds the festival each year due to the approximately 400,000 attendees that descend on Las Vegas over the festival weekend.

With gates opening earlier, reduced commuting, and cooler weather, EDC 2018 promises to deliver a streamlined experience for festival goers, making the pilgrimage to one of the world's biggest dance parties that much more enjoyable.
