Elton John and lyricist/songwriter Bernie Taupin have won Best Original Song for "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" at the 2020 Oscars.

The song, featuring music by John and lyrics by longtime collaborator Taupin, is featured in the 2019 film Rocketman, a biopic based on the life of the former. John and actor Taron Egerton, who portrayed the singer in the film, performed the song together.

Ahead of the win, John delivered an animated and soulful performance of the song live on the Oscar stage.

Prior to the Academy Awards, "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" won Best Original Song at the Golden Globes and tied for Best Song at the Critics' Choice Awards earlier this year, among other awards and nominations. Rocketman was also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media at the 62nd GRAMMY Awards last month.

The award marks John's second Oscar for Best Original Song, following his win in 1995 for "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from the 1994 Disney animated film The Lion King. This marks Taupin's first Oscar win.
John, a five-time GRAMMY winner, received his most recent GRAMMY nomination at the 53rd GRAMMY Awards, held in 2011, for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for "If It Wasn't For Bad," a featured track off his 2010 collaborative album, The Union, with Leon Russell.
