RCA/Legacy Recordings announced the release on April 6 of Elvis Presley: The Searcher (The Original Soundtrack), accompanying the HBO documentary to air April 14. Documentary director and GRAMMY winner Thom Zimny produced the album with GRAMMY nominees Ernst Mikael Jorgensen and Jon Landau, tracing Elvis' journey from his roots to his 1976 Jungle Room sessions.

"The soundtrack was in my mind from the beginning," said Zimny. "I wasn't just making a film, I was thinking about the collection of recordings I would gather for a person who saw the film, who wanted to complete the experience."

The individual CD and 3-CD set live up to the doc director's hopes, and the deluxe version also contains original compositions made for the soundtrack by Mike McCready and rarities such as Tom Petty's performance of "Wooden Heart." The filmmakers enjoyed unprecedented access from Graceland and the Presley estate.
