In 1977 Saturday Night Fever sparked an epidemic that spread like wildfire. Not only was the film, starring John Travolta, an instant cultural phenomenon, but the soundtrack dominated the top spot on the Billboard 200 for 24 weeks.
For this unforgettable disco classic, we have primarily the Bee Gees (brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb) to thank. They performed six of the soundtrack's tracks and wrote seven, including "If I Can't Have You," which was covered by singer Yvonne Elliman.
Saturday Night Fever hit it big at the GRAMMY Awards. The indelible hit "How Deep Is Your Love" was released as a single in 1977 prior to finding its way onto the soundtrack, and it earned the trio of brothers Best Pop Vocal Performance By A Group at the 20th GRAMMY Awards.

The following year, at the 21st GRAMMY Awards, the soundtrack itself netted the Bee Gees an additional four GRAMMYs, including Album Of The Year, Producer Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance By A Duo, Group Or Chorus for "Saturday Night Fever."
Saturday Night Fever remains the only disco album in GRAMMY history to take home the GRAMMY for Album Of The Year. It's also one of only three soundtracks to ever earn the same distinction alongside Whitney Houston's The Bodyguard — Original Soundtrack Album (1993) and O Brother, Where Art Thou? — Soundtrack (2001).
The Bee Gees were recognized in 2015 with the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack was also inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2004.
Additionally, to celebrate the impact of Saturday Night Fever and the Bee Gees' timeless catalog, the Recording Academy hosted the CBS TV special "Stayin' Alive: A GRAMMY Salute To The Music Of The Bee Gees" on April 16, 2017, with artists such as Demi Lovato, Celine Dion, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, and John Legend covering hits from the album.
