The 2020 GRAMMYs are just around the corner, and now the nominations are in for the coveted honor of Best R&B Album. While we'll have to wait until the 62nd GRAMMY Awards air on CBS on Jan. 26 to find out who will win, let's take a look at which albums have been nominated for Best R&B Album.
1123 – BJ The Chicago Kid

Released in July of this year, BJ The Chicago Kid’s 1123 is his third studio album and features contributions from the likes of Chance The Rapper (“Church”) and Rick Ross (“Playa’s Ball”). BJ scored his first career GRAMMY for Best Rap Sung Collaboration for “Studio” with Schoolboy Q.
Painted – Lucky Daye

Painted is the debut studio album from Lucky Daye, released in May via Keep Cool and RCA.
We recently sat down with Daye backstage at ESSENCE Fest to ask how he felt about the warm receptionPainted is receiving.
"I feel good, like people are receiving it well," Daye said. "I've been really, really humbled by this whole situation. I know it's not by my power, by my hands, I'm standing on the shoulders of giants."
Ella Mai – Ella Mai

Ella Mai is the debut studio album from the English singer/songwriter. It features the singles "Boo'd Up" and "Trip” and was executive produced by DJ Mustard. It also features guest appearances from Chris Brown, John Legend and H.E.R.
The two-time GRAMMY-winning singer took home the award for Best R&B Song at the 61st GRAMMY Awards for the aforementioned single “Boo’d Up.”
Paul – PJ Morton

Paul is the sixth and third self-released studio album by GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter PJ Morton.
The album, which follows 2017's Gumbo Unplugged, will be "the most honest expression of myself and my art that I've ever made," he said prior to releasing the album. "Everybody calls me PJ, but I came into this world as Paul. That struck me as the perfect title for this album because Paul is the purest form of who I am."
Recorded in his hometown of New Orleans, the album has several features, including Rapsody and JoJo. Gumbo was originally set to be his last album, but his move back to his hometown re-inspired him.
"I was struggling to figure out who I wanted to be and where I could fit in as a solo artist, and it honestly left me feeling pretty defeated," he said. "Coming back to New Orleans inspired a lot of new growth and perspective, though, and it helped me realize that the best thing I could be was myself."
Ventura – Anderson .Paak

Ventura is the fourth studio album by Anderson Paak and features guest appearances from André 3000, Smokey Robinson, Lalah Hathaway, Jazmine Sullivan, Sonyae Elise, and Brandy, along with posthumous vocals from Nate Dogg.
