One name that showed up on the 2017 Coachella lineup announcement initially puzzled some people, and not because it was unrecognizable. Hans Zimmer, the GRAMMY-winning composer of such film scores as The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Inception, landed a spot on the iconic desert festival's Sunday lineup, which is typically reserved for more conventional performing artists.
Now Zimmer has announced he'll be bringing his stage show to a new string of tour dates in North America this summer, expanding on his previously announced tour through Europe. The run will kick off April 14 in Los Angeles and extend until August.
While he may not be a name fans are used to seeing next to their favorite artists on festival bills, Zimmer has no shortage of "hits" to draw from on his staggering résumé of film scores. According to Consequence of Sound, each performance will be split into two parts: the first featuring material from Gladiator, The Lion King, and Pirates Of The Caribbean, and the second part calling on music from The Dark Knight trilogy and Inception with some special guest performers from the "rock and pop world."
So who will these special guests be? Back in 2014, when Zimmer played two sold-out nights at London's Hammersmith Apollo, he brought out the likes of Johnny Marr and Pharrell Williams. If these names are any indication, there's no telling the caliber of talent Zimmer will invite onstage during his upcoming run.
