Harry Styles kicked off the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards with a bang on Sunday (March 14), shaking up Downtown Los Angeles with “Watermelon Sugar.”
Staying true to his signature vintage-inspired style, the British pop star donned a full leather suit adorned with a sage-green feather boa that would make his inspirations Elton John and Mick Jagger proud. Styles sunk deep into his laidback charm while he sang a groovy rendition of the chart-topping hit.
At one point, he tossed the boa to the side to show off disco-influenced choreography alongside the backup singers. The smiling Styles was even joined by alternative R&B singer/producer Dev Hynes, who gave a brief electric guitar solo. Tonight marks Styles’ debut performance at the GRAMMYs, and he made it one to remember.
Styles earned three nominations this year, including Best Music Video for “Adore You.” He could possibly take home the awards for Best Pop Solo Performance (“Watermelon Sugar”) and Best Pop Vocal Album (Fine Line), which will be revealed throughout the night’s ceremony.
