The GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live will host a special program tonight, June 20, spotlighting the issues of mental health and substance abuse in the hip-hop and R&B communities. The conversation will also focus on prevention and awareness strategies, as well as recovery resources offered through organizations such as MusiCares.
Hosted by Justin Hunte, former editor-in-chief of HipHopDX, the panel will feature Dr. Reef Karim, psychiatrist and human behavior expert; Shanti Das, urban music executive and founder of Silence the Shame; GRAMMY nominees Vic Mensa and Charlie Wilson, and five-time GRAMMY winner Lalah Hathaway.
The event is sold out, but the GRAMMY Museum, in partnership with MusiCares and BET, will host a live stream of the event via Facebook tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET.
