Tim Linhart, a former ice sculptor from Colorado, first experimented with carving the body for a string bass out of solid ice more than 20 years ago. He was pleased with the results, and since then has gone on to craft an entire orchestra of his unique "ICEstruments." His ensemble, Ice Music, now performs concerts covering a wide range of genres, including classical, pop, rock, and folk — all from a special temperature-controlled concert hall built inside a huge igloo in Luleå, Swedish Lapland — Sweden’s northernmost destination.
