Sept. 22 release Wonderful Wonderful by the Killers tops the latest Billboard 200 chart, having moved 118,000 album-equivalents in its first week. The band's big rock sound follows lead singer Brandon Flowers through diverse styles, keeping it hard while proving that skill is the perfect addition to creativity.

The Killers' success is the third LP to hit  No. 1 this year for rock groups who debuted more than 10 years ago, following summer toppers from Brand New and LCD Soundsystem.

Another trend boosting the album is fans' enthusiasm for concert-ticket promotional tie-ins, an old practice showing new strength in 2017. The Killers' Wonderful Wonderful Tour delivers the same ticketing-album bundle that supported LCD Soundsystem's climb, Arcade Fire's summer success, as well as the Chainsmokers and Katy Perry's latest releases.
