The GRAMMY winner revealed she lives with fibromyalgia, a disease that affects more than 5 million people in the United States. It causes chronic pain and other symptoms such as "fatigue, stiffness, cognitive and memory problems, sleep disturbances, and additional symptoms of depression and anxiety."

It's not the first time the Fame Monster has referenced suffering from chronic pain. Gaga cancelled the remainder of her 2013 Born This Way Ball tour because of a hip injury. When she posted an explanation via her website to fans, she mentioned living with chronic pain. In 2016 Gaga mentioned in an Instagram post she was "having a frustrating day with chronic pain."

Now that she has finally revealed the diagnosis, Lady Gaga wants to start a conversation about the painful disease to raise awareness and connect with other people who have it.
