Madonna has announced that she will be performing at Pride Island, the two-day music festival held during NYC Pride on June 30. The pop icon confirmed the news on the The Today Show on Monday, June 3.
In the video message shared during the news segment of the show, the GRAMMY winner sings, "I hear you. I'll be on Pride Island, where I was born," with a rainbow flag wrapped around her. She also shared the video on Instagram, writing, "For once the rumours are true............ Madame X is coming to Pride Island........... June 30th @nycpride."

The news had festival goers even more excited about the already sold-out event. Tickets for Pride Island, taking place at Pier 97 in New York on June 29–30, have been completely sold since March. GRAMMY nominated queer icon Grace Jones will headline Saturday of the event, with rising R&B powerhouse Teyana Taylor and Brazilian pop star—and the country's biggest drag queen—Pabllo Vittar also slated to perform.
Rumors of Madonna playing the fest had been going around since the beginning of the year. Out explained the rumors began New Year's Eve when the New York-residing star surprised revelers at Stonewall Inn where the historic uprising by the LGBT community took place in 1969. She rang in the New Year with a performance of "Like a Prayer" and a moving speech paying tribute to the uprising:
"I stand here proudly at the place where Pride began. Let us not forget the Stonewall riots and those who bravely stood up and said 'enough.' We come together tonight to celebrate 50 years of revolution, 50 years of freedom-fighting."
WorldPride, which will be taking place in the U.S. for the first time, has partnered with NYC Pride this year for the 50th anniversary of Stonewall.
Madonna will be releasing her 14th studio album, Madame X, on June 14, and will be on tour later this year, with a limited-run of intimate shows across the U.S., including New York, this fall and Europe in early 2020.
