GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Miguel visited The Recording Academy's headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., to participate in an exclusive GRAMMY.com interview. Miguel discussed culture-defying music trends and his journey to self-awareness and self-acceptance during the making of his new album, Wildheart, among other topics.

"Wildheart began with a level of self-awareness and understanding self-worth on a personal level," said Miguel. "I think I wanted to approach this next wave for myself with something greater than just music."

Los Angeles native Miguel began his career as a producer and singer/songwriter. In 2010 he released his debut studio album, All I Want Is You, which broke the Top 50 on the Billboard 200. That same year he earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best R&B Song for co-writing Jaheim's "Finding My Way Back." This was followed by 2012's Kaleidoscope Dream, which peaked at No. 3 and garnered him five GRAMMY nominations, including his first career GRAMMY win for Best R&B Song for his Top 20 hit "Adorn."

Released on June 29, Wildheart features 13 tracks co-written by Miguel, including "Coffee," "Hollywood Dreams" and "Face The Sun," the latter featuring GRAMMY winner Lenny Kravitz on guitar. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

Miguel is currently on an international tour with dates scheduled through October.
