Minnesota-based alt-pop singer/songwriter and activist Dua Saleh has released a moving, poignant song condemning police brutality and the murder of George Floyd in their hometown. "This is a song I made with Psymun [who produced the track] last year and intended to save it for a project in the future but I can't wait that long with what is happening in my city of Minneapolis," they shared on YouTube.

All proceeds for the song, released on May 30, will be donated to Women for Political Change, a Minnesota social justice org actively investing "in the leadership and political power of young women and trans & non-binary folks." Saleh is a non-binary Black artist who released their debut EP, Nūr, in 2019, a project showcasing their haunting, rich voice backed by intoxicating sounds and intimate storytelling.

"We must take action to ensure the safety of our community. We demand justice for the family of George Floyd and countless others who have had their lives stolen by the police. We no longer can rely on the Minneapolis Police Department, or the local, state and federal government to protect us. They have ordered military personnel armed with lethal weapons to provoke violence at our assemblies of peaceful protests. This is terrifying for us as we mourn a member of the community," Saleh said in a statement.
