Broadway On Demand will be the latest Broadway streaming service to bring U.S. theatre goers their favorite shows directly to their homes. The new on-demand platform is set to launch in May.

The membership-based service, which will include free and premium membership tiers, will feature shows, exclusive livestream events, archival material, educational resources and more, and be available in Mid-May. The platform will launch with a "30 Days of Opening Nights" series live from Hollywood’s Bourbon Room. The event will raise funds for performers, musicians, writers and others in the community affected by COVID-19. The exact date of the benefit event and Broadway On Demand launch are still to be announced.

Broadway On Demand's president and CEO Sean Cercone, also the Broadway Licensing president, said this has been in the making for some time.

"Even before our current crisis, we've long dreamt of building a platform that would truly fulfill Broadway's long-held promise of being 'the longest street in the world,'" he said in a statement. "This platform is our way of breaking down geographical and economic barriers so that the entire world can partake in all the wonders that Broadway has to offer."

Currently, Broadway HD offers theatre fans a range of shows to watch from home. First launched in 2015, it opened its platform with more than 100 titles and now streams "hundreds of productions."
