Fast on the heels of a 3-D version of Michael Jackson's classic 1983 video "Thriller" at the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 4, a new project from the GRAMMY winner has been announced — we just don't know much about it.

Jackson's Twitter account teased the release of Scream using animated Halloween imagery, such as black cats and spiders, in a short, enigmatic video.

According to Variety, the project — which is titled after Jackson's 1995 hit collaboration with sister Janet Jackson — will be released on Sept. 29. Fans may be hoping for unreleased material, but co-executer of Jackson's estate John Branca leads us to believe Scream will likely be a new compilation album while dashing any hopes for brand-new music.

"I don't foresee us releasing any more unreleased music for quite some time," Branca told Variety. "That doesn't mean there won't be interesting record releases in the very near future."

Branca teased there were two Jackson-related announcements coming "soon," presumably including Scream, but he didn't elaborate further, noting new projects were waiting a quality stamp of approval.

"Michael had an expression: 'The quality goes in before the name goes on,'" said Branca. "So we are not ready to announce them yet."

Looks like we might have to wait to find out how the latest posthumous chapter of the King of Pop's legacy will be written.
