Timed to coincide with a U.N. climate conference, GRAMMY nominee Patti Smith and GRAMMY winner R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe will get together on Nov. 5 at Carnegie Hall in New York City for Pathway to Paris: Concert to Fight Climate Change.
The concert will also feature guest artists Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Talib Kweli and Cat Power, among others.
The event will take place the same night as COP 23, the U.N's climate change conference in Bonn, Germany, and will include the announcement of a new initiative that will invite 1,000 cities from around the world to commit to switching to renewable energy by 2040. All proceeds from the concert will benefit 350.org, Pathway to Paris and the United Nations Development Programme.
An inaugural version of Pathway to Paris was held in 2014, helmed by Smith, Thurston Moore and Lenny Kaye at New York City's Le Poisson Rouge. In 2015 Smith teamed with Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Dhani Harrison and Flea for the event, performing at Paris' Le Trianon theater.
