The Academy Awards may honor the best in the film industry each year, but that doesn't mean music isn't represented. Thanks to the Best Original Song category, we also get a chance to celebrate the music in film that made us laugh, cry, and jump for joy during our favorite film moments.

This year's class of Best Original Song Oscar nominees represents a diverse range of artists, songwriters and films. There's Sufjan Steven's "Mystery Of Love" from the LGBT-centric film Call Me By Your Name. Alongside Raphael Saadiq and Taura Stinson, the inimitable Mary J. Blige is nominated for her "Mighty River" from Mudbound, a period drama exploring life for African-Americans in the Jim Crow South.

From the animated celebration of family, Coco, Miguel's "Remember Me (Dúo)" featuring Natalia Lafourcade — authored by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez — earned a nod. Written by Diane Warren and Lonnie R. Lynn, Andra Day and Common's powerful "Stand Up For Something" is also nominated, taken from the biographical portrait of former Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Marshall.

Rounding out the category is "This Is Me," a song written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for the musical celebration of showmanship, The Greatest Showman.
