Jay-Z's Roc Nation is partnering with Brooklyn, N.Y.'s Long Island University to launch the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment.
The new school will begin enrolling students Fall 2021, the music company said in a statement. Students will be able to earn a degree in music, music technology, entrepreneurship and production as well as sports management. The school seeks to provide students with both educational and hands-on experiences they need to enter the entertainment and sports fields.
The company also said high-need, first-generation New York college students with full-ride scholarships and receive individual support as well as mentorship. Additionally, 25 percent of students at the school will receive scholarships.
LIU President Dr. Kimberly Cline said the partnership will bring about future industry leaders.
"Our proximity in and around New York City’s epicenter of music and sports clearly positions us to offer unparalleled experiential learning and access to professional opportunities that will launch students to success," Cline said. “We look forward to joining with Roc Nation to offer an unprecedented educational resource that opens up the entertainment and sports world to a new and eager generation."
The school will also provide resources for students seeking to go into higher education. Residential summer camps for high school students and Saturday programs for students ages1 0-18 will begin spring 2021. Scholarships will also be available for the camp.
