The episode will cover the stigma of mental illness, a topic on which O'Connor has spoken on many times. During the intimate interview, O'Connor also opens up about her painful past and gives a stripped down performance of her hit song, the Prince-penned "Nothing Compares 2U."
This follows an August self-posted Facebook video in which O'Connor revealed she was struggling with mental illness. The video prompted support from fans and fellow artists, including GRAMMY winner Fiona Apple.
"I want you to know that you are my hero," Apple said. "You've given so much."
During an episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Dr. Phil revealed that O'Connor reached out to him to be a guest on his show.
"I want to destigmatize mental illness," O'Connor told Dr. Phil. "Too many musicians are dying and I want to use my life to be a teaching tool."
