The ever-left-of-center musical comedy duo Tenacious D have announced plans to put a new twist on touring ahead of the 2020 presidential election. Jack Black and Kyle Gass have announced they'll embard on a trek titled "The Purple Nurple Tour - Twisting Hard To The Left!" this fall.
Appropriately, the 10-date run will take the GRAMMY winners through U.S. swing states, launching in Davenport, Iowa on Sept. 25 and stopping in Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin and more before wrapping it all up Oct. 9 at New York City's Radio City Music Hall.
Tenacious D will partnered with the 46 for 46 campaign to help promote voter registration and civic action.
"In 2016, six states were decided by 2 percentage points or less, and ten states were decided by 4 percentage points or less. Swing states played a pivotal role in the outcome of that election, and they will again in 2020," the band revealed in a statement. "Knowing that, we looked at each other and agreed: just like the tale of Post-Apocalypto, it is time for Tenacious D to RIDE and help save the world from Trumpian destruction. With great rock comes great responsibility."
