YouTube star and singer/songwriter Devvon Terrell recently performed a new cover of The Weeknd's GRAMMY-nominated hit "Can't Feel My Face" for an installment of The Recording Academy's ReImagined series at the YouTube Space in Los Angeles. By pairing YouTube creators with a GRAMMY-winning song catalog, the ReImagined series celebrates the talent and contributions of today's YouTube influencers, the creative spirit, and pays tribute to the artists and songs recognized by The Recording Academy.
"I picked this song because it's so powerful and it has so much movement," said Terrell on choosing "Can't Feel My Face" for his ReImagined performance.
Terrell, also known as the Living Weirdo, made his YouTube debut in 2012 with his original song "My Senses." He has since amassed nearly 94 million views and more than 624,000 subscribers via his YouTube channel, with a collection of original songs, covers and medleys of songs by GRAMMY-winning artists such as Drake, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, and Usher, among others. In 2015 Terrell released his debut album, Weird Sexy Cool, which features 10 original songs, including "Get On," "Doing Tonight" and "Ride And Boogie." More recently, Terrell released a nine-track EP, The Renaissance, in September.
"Can't Feel My Face" is featured on The Weeknd's 2015 album Beauty Behind The Madness, which received Best Urban Contemporary Album honors at the 58th GRAMMY Awards. The track topped the Billboard Hot 100 and garnered two GRAMMY nominations: Record Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
