Thundercat won Best Progressive R&B Album for It Is What It Is at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony. This marks the funky bassist's second career GRAMMY win.

He is the first artist to win the category under its new name; it was previously known as Best Urban Contemporary Album. He accepted the award on camera with his mom and daughter by his side in a heartwarming acceptance speech, which you can watch in full below.

His album bested fellow nominees Jhené Aiko, Chloe X Halle, Free Nationals and Robert Glasper.
