Everyone loves a comeback. GRAMMY-nominated metal band Underoath has been dormant for eight years, much to the chagrin of both their legions of loyal fans, and the many bands they've inspired with their first five albums. But now, the wait is over as Underoath have dropped a brutal new single, "On My Teeth," and announced their first new album since 2010, Erase Me, out April 6.

Underoath originally formed in Florida in 1998 but emerged as their current lineup with Spencer Chamberlain as frontman on 2004's punishing They're Only Chasing Safety, creating a sonic blueprint for the modern metal Jekyll/Hyde dichotomy of melodic singing and tortured screaming many bands would come to follow over the next decade.

Their intense and progressive follow up, 2006's Define The Great Line, earned the band a new level of critical acclaim and a GRAMMY nomination for Best Short Form Music Video for "Writing On The Walls" at the 49th GRAMMY Awards.

Underoath kept recording and touring, pushing the boundaries of the genre and building up a devout following before walking away after their 2013 "farewell" tour.

Rumblings of new music began in 2016 after the band reunited for their Rebirth tour and Chamberlain and drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespe jumped onstage with Beartooth at the Alternative Press Music Awards to perform Underoath's classic "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door" from the aforementioned …Chasing Safety album.

For Erase Me, Underoath's sixth full-length studio album, the band enlisted producers Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco, 3OH!3) and Ken Andrews (founding member of alt-rock cult-heroes Failure) to help create — and artfully destroy — the band's signature balance of melodic songwriting and crushing power.

"On My Teeth" reminds us of Underoath's massive influence in a genre full of heavyweights, but also jolts us into the now with something fresh. Erase Me is currently available for pre-order via the band's website.
