Country singer/songwriter Cam visited The Recording Academy's headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., to perform "Runaway Train" and her GRAMMY-nominated song "Burning House." She also participated in an exclusive GRAMMY.com interview, discussing how she chose music as her career path and how a Kickstarter campaign ultimately yielded her major label debut album, Untamed, among other topics.

"I actually went to school [to study] psychology and Italian. I double-majored," said Cam. "The whole time I was doing music … but thought of it as a hobby. [I] kind of hit a moment when I was 25, and I thought, 'Maybe I should really be doing music at this point.'"

California native Cam released her debut album, 2010's Heartforward, under her birth name, Camaron Ochs. After relocating to Los Angeles, she met producer Tyler Johnson and started working as a songwriter, penning tunes for artists such as Miley Cyrus and Maggie Rose.

In 2013 Cam launched a Kickstarter campaign for a project in collaboration with Johnson. The campaign, which received support from GRAMMY-winning producer Jeff Bhasker, spawned the single "Down This Road," earning Cam radio airplay and major label attention.

After signing with Arista Nashville/RCA Records, in March 2015 she released the EP Welcome To Cam Country, which was co-produced by Johnson and Bhasker. The EP featured four tracks, including "Burning House." The song earned a 2015 GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Solo Performance and landed in the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Released in December 2015, Untamed represents the culmination of the material Cam worked on during her 2013 Kickstarter campaign. The album features 11 tracks, including "Mayday," "My Mistake" and "Burning House," and peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200.

Cam began her North American tour July 8, with dates through September.
