Dirty Heads frontman Jared "Dirty J" Watson and guitarist Dustin "Duddy B" Bushnell recently participated in an installment of the GRAMMY Museum's The Drop series. Before an intimate audience at the Museum's Clive Davis Theater, the pair discussed why they're proud of the band's newest album, Sound Of Change, and how they push themselves to explore different genres of music, among other topics. Dirty Heads also performed a brief set, including "My Sweet Summer."

"If people weren't scratching their heads saying, 'What the F? I don't know if I get this. I don't know if I'm comfortable with my band doing this,' then we didn't push ourselves hard enough," said Watson regarding Sound Of Change.

"We're proud of [Sound Of Change]," added Bushnell. "We're always going to try and break new ground and we're always going to try to push ourselves."

Comprising Bushnell, Watson, David Foral (bass), Shawn Hagood (keyboards), Matt Ochoa (drums), and Jon Olazabal (percussion), Dirty Heads was formed in 2003 in Huntington Beach, Calif. In 2008 they released their breakthrough album, Any Port In A Storm. The album cracked the Billboard 200 and was followed by a special-edition release in 2010, which included the Billboard Hot 100 hit "Lay Me Down" featuring Rome Ramirez of Sublime With Rome. In 2012 Dirty Heads scored their first Top 20 album with Cabin By The Sea, which peaked at No. 18 featuring the Billboard Rock Songs hit "Spread Too Thin."

Released on July 8, Sound Of Change follows 2013's Home: Phantoms Of Summer — The Acoustic Sessions. Sound Of Change peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, earning the band their highest-charting album to date. The album features 11 tracks, including "My Sweet Summer" and the title track.

Dirty Heads will kick off an international tour on Oct. 10 in Ventura, Calif., with dates scheduled through December.

Upcoming GRAMMY Museum events include Reel To Reel: Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction (Sept. 29), Map To The Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro (Sept. 30), Reel To Reel: Wonderwall & Wonderwall Music (Oct. 2), and The Drop: Conor Oberst (Oct. 7).
