As applause (and enthusiastic screams) filled the room, all three men expressed deep gratitude for each other and the honor. Jackson closed his speech with a heartfelt tribute to the late Jackie Wilson, who had passed just weeks prior to the ceremony. 

"Some people are entertainers … Some people are followers. And some people make the path and are pioneers. I'd like to say Jackie Wilson was a wonderful entertainer," he said. "Jackie, where you are, I'd like to say I love you and thank you so much."
