Keith and Michael Jeffery of Australian alternative-rock band Atlas Genius spoke with Pacific Northwest Chapter while touring at Sasquatch 2013. "We're happy to keep producing ourself, and we're keen to do it that way," shared Michael. With their brother Steven, the family converted their garage into a spacious recording studio, took up a residency at a local pub, and were catapulted to fame by their 2011 indie single "Trojans." Since then, having signed with Warner Bros. and happy about the artistic freedom they retain, the two discuss how an ideal producer brings out the potential sound of a band and doesn't impose or force ideas on them.
