In an extended 2014 Los Angeles Chapter event with multiple GRAMMY winner Jennifer Hudson, interviewer Harvey Mason Jr. brought back memories of her first audition for the 2006 hit movie Dreamgirls. Mason was part of the music team for the film, directed by Bill Condon, and Hudson brought back memories of the final take she did that was kept on the soundtrack. Condon told her, "Just sing the way you sing and just go for it," and she nailed it. "That's what I like to do is sing from the heart and emotion," said Hudson "That's what I let lead me." The interview followed the Sept. 2014 release of her third solo album JHUD, and the two discussed her in-studio experiences working on it with Timbaland and Pharrell Williams.
