One of the most successful Latin music solo artists of all time, Juanes has won 2 GRAMMY Awards and 23 Latin GRAMMY Awards for his blend of South American folk music and North American rock. He described his early evolution to the Texas Chapter while at Austin City Limits 2014, growing up in Colombia loving Black Sabbath, Metallica and Slayer. When his metal band Ekhymosis folded in the late 90s, Juanes moved to the U.S. and hoped to make it as a solo artist. Discovered in Los Angeles by artist/producer Gustavo Santaolalla, Juanes took all that he learned from rock and discovered a new fusion between the musical languages of his first home and the U.S. He has gone on to sell an estimated 15 million albums.
