Lake Street Dive were at Austin City Limits 2014, and schooled Texas Chapter on how the band mastered its complete process. Trumpet master Mike "McDuck" Olson organized the quartet while they were classmates at New England Conservatory of Music. The four are all songwriters, each with a different process, and as musicians, arrangements now come together perfecting their tight licks. Jazz and soul and pop and R&B and whatever can describe their sound, bass player Bridget Kearney says it seems to require a string of words in a row. Singer Rachael Price says their focus is now performance, and McDuck insists recording stays chill and zen. "Let's not pander," he said. "Let's not screw ourselves."
