Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's manager Zach Quillen was interviewed by Larry Mizell Jr. at the Pacific Northwest Chapter's 2014 Songwriter's Summit. Drawing from his prior experience as a booking agent, Quillen's advice was to start slow and get to know their fan base. Seattle's The Showbox was selected for a first night, but when it sold out in 3 minutes, another was added and then another, for more than 3,000 ticket sales. "It came out of nowhere," said Quillen, "it surprised everyone that was paying attention."
